Commissioners Approve Slaughter Road Repaving

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.(WHNT)-The unpleasant but all-too-familiar sound of tire hitting pothole is nothing new for thousands of commuters on Slaughter Road in Huntsville and Madison. But relief is now on the way.

Madison County Commissioners unanimously approved funding for a complete repaving of the road at Wednesday’s regularly scheduled meeting. The cost of the project is being equally split three ways between Madison County and the city governments of Huntsville and Madison. Slaughter Road traverses the boundary that separates both municipalities

County officials said work is expected to begin sometime next month. Commissioner Steve Haraway represents the district that Slaughter Road runs through, and called the repaving project welcome news.
